Frequently Asked Questions
What is music syncing?
A “synchronization” (sync for short) is the attachment of a song onto visual media. These syncs are previously made music, licensed to a company to be used in media or content specifically made for a project. Music supervisors typically make the decisions behind sync selections.
Major labels sometimes limit access to sync opportunities, but DropDay partners with large companies and brands, creating opportunities for independent artists. Instead of sifting through generic songs, brands can choose high-quality content from a diverse pool of creative talent.
While music requirements vary, upbeat songs with positive lyrics are ideal for sync placements in commercials and TV shows.
What are the benefits of sync licensing for artist?
Sync licensing is an effective way for artists and musicians to generate income, expand their audience, and enhance their brand presence. Here are some key benefits of this powerful opportunity:
1. Revenue Generation
Sync licensing allows artists and musicians to earn income through licensing fees and royalties. When a song is licensed for use in a TV show, movie, advertisement, or other media, the artist receives payment for their music. In addition to the initial sync licensing fee an artist receives, ongoing royalties can provide a steady stream of income.
2. Increased Exposure
Having music featured in popular media can introduce an artist’s work to a broader audience. For instance, when a track is used in a well-known TV show, film, or commercial, it exposes the artist to new listeners who may not have discovered their music otherwise.
3. Brand Association
Sync licensing can create positive brand associations. When an artist’s music is featured in a commercial for a reputable or widely recognized brand, it connects their sound with the brand’s identity. This association can enhance the artist’s image and appeal to fans of the brand.
4. Networking Opportunities
Collaborating with music supervisors, licensing agents, and other industry professionals can open doors for further opportunities. These connections help artists build valuable relationships within the music industry, paving the way for future projects and partnerships. Sync licensing offers artists and musicians a multifaceted approach to advancing their careers. By generating revenue, expanding exposure, and establishing brand associations, sync licensing serves as a valuable tool for building a sustainable and successful music career.
How Do I Submit Music?
Simply click submit music or get started now. Pay submission fee and we will send you a direct email to send your music or production to?
Do You Charge A Submission Fee?
Yes, we charge a $25 submission fee. We have to charge a fee in order to keep the competition for these rare opportunities down. If there wasn’t a fee then every single artist and label would send music for every single opportunity we offer. The fee is small but it helps our clients focus on submitting the right music, for the right opportunity, for the best chance at success.
Am I Signing Over Any Right By Submitting My Music?
No, unlike most, we don’t take a percentage of anything. You keep 100% of all your sync fees, royalties, and publishing. It’s already hard enough for artists in this ever-changing industry.
